How we make money

Display advertising. We do not currently run display advertising — the site is supported by affiliate commissions alone. If that ever changes, this page will say so and ads will be clearly labeled, never disguised as content.
What this means for our recommendations
- We recommend what we would buy ourselves. Our guides are built from engineering math, manufacturer specifications, and component research — not from manufacturer press releases. When we document a real build, the article says so (see the Project Lab); otherwise assume nothing here has been bench-tested by us.
- Commission rates do not influence rankings. We frequently recommend cheap PWM charge controllers, generic LiFePO4 cells, and DIY options that earn us little or nothing, because for many setups they are genuinely the right call.
- We name downsides. Every product we cover has trade-offs, and our comparison tables and reviews state them explicitly.
